Help please I can’t excess internet from my laptop

I have two computers at home. I connected to one of them my router (NETGEAR WGR614 v6) so that I can excess internet upstairs from my laptop. I think I hooked everything up the right way but when I press connect button on my laptop it wouldn’t connect. Can someone help me please
