help recover data on damaged usb2 flash storage device

I am running windows xp sp2 and am trying to open my usb2 flash storage which shows up on computer when inserted but cannot be opened.
All data recovery programs i have tried give a message of “not ready”
while most of its contents are backed up, i have not backed up the last few days of data which are very important to me.
It cannot be formatted or scanned with antivirus programs.
IS THERE A WAY TO ACCESS THE DATA ON IT.
