Hello, I copied my hard drive to a network storage device under the following: “backup of C” and “backup of D” using Synctoy. I have lost the use of the original hard drive and have a new drive which I want to mirror with the files I backed up and make bootable. Synctoy doesn’t want to bring all my files back to the new drive.
I use winXP home and the new drive is a 100GB 7200 rpm drive which I will dual boot with ubuntu linux.
I can use the original CDs to make a new C: and D: drives, then partition magic 8 and resize but that still doesn’t solve the problem.
Is there a way for me to use the linux live CD and perhaps use the “DD” command to make the hard drive bootable? currently, I have the new drive in a USB enclosure with linux installed there.
btw, I trashed the IDE connector and am waiting for a new one so I can install the HD into my laptop. 🙁
Can anyone help me?
