I cannot get a new Internet service at 3Mbps to run without daily lockups on my home LAN. Specifically I experience locks-ups on the router requiring it to be reset. Often upon release renew I get 0.0.0.0 from dhcp only leading me to try again. I have tried both a Linksys DSL unit and an lower-end Hawking. The incoming signal is an ethernet line from the new 3Mbps ISP.
I still have my older reliable broadband service that consistently runs fine at around 1-2Mbps (one way). Both the Hawking and Linksys routers run just fine on the older ISP. No lockups, ever. This older broadband service comes into the home via a cable-broadband modem.
Any thoughts about the cause? delay/latency factors downstream? After retrying enough times on my own or with the new ISP’s service techs it does work. Then… the problem repeats.
