home network protocalls

I have just networked my house to share a broadband connection through a 4 port hub. both pc’s can get on the web however we cannot share files between the two. i belive that since the internet is using tcp/ip i would need to set up netbuii in orderto share files. i need to know which format would be best to use for maximum effect. anny advised is appreciated.
