Horror stories for IT on Halloween

This seems to be a good time to post the worst time you have had at a job.
I was contracted out to Federal Mogul for a migration from NT to XP. This was a great contract, the pay was great and the time frame was what we chose, emails were sent out weeks before we got there. All users were to move their data to a network share and were told how to check to be sure every thing was off of their computer. The email, my documents would now be kept on the server and group policies would be in use to keep people from doing things that they should not be doing.
This company has a help desk for mechanics that charges big bucks for help and can not be down at all.
You would think that the help desk was the problem but no it was from the CIO and his assistant. They got the emails, they even approved them!
We took each computer and saved them for two weeks in a storage area. The email sent out said that was what we were going to do. Each computer was labeled and stacked by department, I did a little more then I was suppose to I imaged managers and directors computers to CD’s.
At the last week we were supposed to get a bonus for a job well done. But the CIO could not find any of his data! He did not follow the emails and his assistant did not ether, it was our fault because we did not check with him before doing any thing.
Of course his IT department backed him up, even though we had a contract which had all this up front. They had more money and contacts to argue with.
I had to search through eighty computers and guess what his was the only computer that was not marked.
I was told that if I did not find his computer and get his data back I he would make sure I would never do IT work here again! I just looked at him and laughed right in his face! Sorry I said but you have said some thing that can not be done, I will find your computer and then I will leave. I gave him a copy of the email about the upgrade and what needed to be done.
I got paid for the job with no bonus and the contractor has not called me back. But that?s ok I am working for a company full time.
