Hour Glass on Taskbar after Remote Desktop starts

I have upgraded to XP a few weeks ago and now I am seeing the following problem.

On connecting to my remote server via Remote Desktop the taskbar locks up. I cannot get to it because the hour glass shows if I move the cursor over it.

Sometimes if I do a Ctrl-Alt-Del, select Log Off but don’t run that, then go to the Task Manager, then close that, the taskbar frees up. But only sometimes.

Wierd I know but it is what it is.

Appreciate any assistance as this is causing me a real headache as I cannot manage the remore server correctly. This worked all fine in Win 2000 previously.
