Is there a change in Access 2003 where the hourglass no longer
displays automatically when running a query? If I take a simple 2003
database (no forms, no vb code) with a rather large linked table and
create a sum query, the hourglass will display for a few seconds, then
turn off while it continues to think. If I take a similar database on a
different computer in Access 97 and do a sum query, the hourglass
remains on until the results appear. Both computers are using
Windows Server 2003 standard edition.
If there are no settings to change in Access 2003, could it be a some
computer performance (video refresh) with the computer itself?
My example just took a database with two objects, a table and a
query. When you run the 97 query, the hourglass remains on until the
results are delivered. In Access 2003, when I run the same query, the
hourglass is on for only a few seconds, then turns off. The query
results will not appear for another 10 to 15 seconds. So if you are
watching the 2003 query run it looks like it is not doing anything.
