How can I be sure it’s really gone?

I had a Trojan/Virus and Downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy which found and got rid of a bunch of spyware rubbish. I’m no longer getting the error messages and pop ups associated with the virus but how can I be sure it’s really gone? I really don’t want to log into my Internet banking or anything and have my information leaked. Thanks!
