How can I pull txt messages off a cell via script/app?

I want to send text messages to a cell phone that sits attached to a computer via a USB cable, and have those text messages pulled from the phone (exported and deleted, so they don’t stack up), and have that text message made available to an application/script/database running on the computer. I need this done in a manner that can be scripted/automated, so a command line would be idea.

Any ideas on how this is possible?
