How do I connect a Mac to a Windows DOMAIN?

I am trying to connect an iMac to a Windows 2003 Server domain. I can see the shares but they are all grayed out and when I try to connect I get a messag saying that the share cannot be found. I have tried to connect even as administrator with no luck. What silly step did I forget in my setup?
