How do I get my IBM ThinkPad T41’s USB ports back to USB 2.0?

Recently, my laptop’s USB port is giving me a pop-up when I plug something in advising me I should connect to a USB 2.0 for full use.

How do I resolve this so my USB ports are up to date and version 2.0?
