How do I get on track to becoming an IT Project Manager

I want to gain a career as a Project Manager, but don’t know where to begin. Right now I’m a junior majoring in Information Technology & Informatics and taking formal courses focusing on project management at Rutgers University. I’ve had a few networking, repair, and programming courses in high school as well. However, I’ve had very little IT job experience (just network troubleshooting in the dormitories). What jobs/internships/certifications/companies should I be seeking out to gain experience on how to become an IT Project Manager? Do I need to go to graduate school, too?
