How do I set up a user for remote access from home?

I’m trying to set up a user so she can log on to her work pc from home. I currently am able to log onto the servers from home using our IP followed be by a colon and 4 digits. I’m not sure how this was setup and I’m trying to figure out how to do the same for my user. Any help?
