When you work in the I.T. field, many times you are more aware of what is going on within your company or organization than other departments are. Often times, I.T. staff interacts with executive staff members and high ranking officers for the simple fact that technology touches every department. At my previous company, I was one of the few people that knew almost everyone there because I was the corporate desktop analyst.
Because I.T. deals with all departments, often times we become privy to information that affects the entire company. But the frustration becomes that most of the time we are aware of things that may directly affect us that we have no control over such as potential layoffs or other factors that affect the overall success and viability of your company. How do you all deal with this? I try and take the attitude that I will worry about what I can control but that can be difficult.
