Lately, I’ve noticed more clients expecting a quote on the spot sometimes just from a quick phone call or a couple of pictures.
While I get the need for speed, I’ve also had cases where a quick quote turns into scope creep, surprise costs, or misunderstandings.
What’s working for me now is a two step approach:
I give a rough ballpark range upfront (with disclaimers), based on similar past jobs.
Then I follow up with a detailed written estimate after reviewing plans, photos, or a site visit.
To streamline this, I’ve started using a system that helps me build detailed estimates faster so I’m not stuck working on pricing all night. It’s really improved my turnaround time and makes me look more professional too.
Just curious how do you all deal with the “Can you give me a quick quote?” crowd without hurting your time or profit?
