How important is securing admin access to your Windows servers?

Other than your core set of server engineers or administrators, do other groups have admin access to support servers in your organization?

In an effort to “do more with less”, spreading the workload only makes sense in most IT shops. But doing so in an unsafe manner can expose your data and backend processes to more people than is necessary and increase the chance of human error and costly downtime.

Are IT and the CxOs having an active conversation about making sure the right people have the right access on your Windows servers?
