How Old Will You Be When You Quit Being a Technician?

I have been a desktop/network support technician for several years. I enjoy the challenges but wonder how other techs feel about eventually changing your position to a manager? Could you tolerate not being a technician just because of your age? How old do you think you should be able to work as a tech? Would you sacrifice work that you love for a manager’s position that pays more? Have you been through this experience?
