How to access Sharepoint intranet site using web portal via www?

I have just installed MOSS 07 Professional and I am trying to get access to my intranet sites, via the web portal connection. At this time I have it set up to access it via my Server’s IP address, which is on the outside of the DMZ of my firewall. Am I configuring it wrong, or are there steps that I may have missed?
