How to add a network printer…step by step please…even when to plug in!!

I am new to networking. I want to add a network printer..I dont think it matters what kind of printer that it is..It is a labelprinter. I need to add it to the network and I am not sure how and I would like some assistance, PLEASE!!! 😉 Can anyone give me step by step to get it working. I think it needs a static ip address as welll…
