How to boot to dos comand

I have a windows 2000 server system. After I updated the system with the latest MS Update the system crashes all the time. I can?t use any of the options (Safe mode, debug etc?.) when I hit the F8.
Is there a way to load the system in dos level so I can access the hard drive?
