How to decide between Zone based firewall and IPS

Hi all,
I am preparing for CCNA security.
Kind of confused between ZBF and IPS. What difference they make or in other words how to decide between the implementation of ZBF and IPS while designing a secured network.
Well , they both inspect,pass or drop and use access lists to implement their functions.
