how to have a smooth transition from a compaq desktop to an hp touchsmart?

So I’ve had a compaq 5310US that I’ve had a for about 5 years…and I am upgrading to a HP Touchsmart PC… I want to know the best way to do the transition…transfer files, insure antivirus protection is active before I connect to the internet…ect…Any ideas out there?
