How to Read Data Through Phone via Android App

Hi,

I am trying to create an Android mobile app that reads text using the camera.

I have seen examples of this where people scan their bank card, & their credit card number, name, etc. are read through the camera & stored in text fields.

I have done some research, and apparently the OCR technology does something similar, but I haven’t managed to find anything yet.

Does anybody know of any good technologies, tutorials, etc. that could be used to accomplish this?
