1 . I have a domain controller(dc win2000 server) ( ip add 192.168.0.100) it is at the same time dns server as well as dhcp server as well as exchange server( all the services in the dc )
2. I have around 40 clients(win xp ) with ip addresses range between 192.168.0.1-40)
3. I have a net connection ( dial up ) in one of the clients ( i have a modem and nic card with ip address 192.168.0.1 in this client
now i want to share the net connection so that all the other xp clients as well the dc can get this net connection
i heard that we can solve the probelm by one of the following option
solution one
using ICS i can do this but xp does not have these service , so what is the solution for that , shall i install win2000 server in one of the client which has net connection and make the configuration of ICS ( and if so which default gateway and dns ip i have to configure in the client as well as in the dc …
solution two
the other option is to install proxy software to xp client
solution three
by using NAT in the client which has net connection by installing win 2000 server and then enable NAT, but in this case NAT server will act as DHCP AND DNS server ( but i already made the DC AS DHCP AND DNS SERVER )
and in ALL THE cases my question is whether these will affect in my dc confiugrations like dns, dhcp,…. and which solution is exact solution for my situation ., please give enough details ( especailly about the defualt gateway and dns which i have to assign in the client as well as in the dc side)
( BY the dial up is slow but we are going to change it to ADSL)
AND ALSO ( MY PUBLIC IP ADDRESS FOR THE CLIENT WHICH HAS THE NET CONNECTION IS NOT STATIC )
