How to take Backup on Multiple tapes.

I have singe tape drive and I want to take backup of exchange server 2003 where the edb and stm files exceed the limit of the backup media. This requires more than one tape. After the first tape is fully consumed it asks for another media, when I insert another media it does not mount and fails. Tried to juggle through various possibilities. Failed. Please Help.
