I am a new admin after 16 years of desktop support. I’ve received no training from the previous admin. I am tasked with updating the Windows 2K service pack, the IE6 update and Office 2K sp3. I find that IE6, run as an exe, is good, except for the restricted user base in 2 depts., the W2KSP3 run as a msi seems to work OK but the Office always requires the install CD.
The enviroment is NT and NetWare 5.1. I have Zenworks 2.7 for remote distribution. There is no management software installed to report the various levels of upgrades on 90% or better W2K desktops @ sp2, IE 5.5 sp1 and Off 2K sr1.
I can’t learn scripting or make an admin point soon enough. What suggestions do you have?
