Howto make work an old xp mode virtual machine ?

Hello,
2 years ago I created a virtual machine on an external disk with xp mode and it worked fine
Now I need to access again this virtual machine but when I open xpmode it opens some virtual machine on d: that I must have created in the beginning. And I can’t see how to tell xp mode which virtual machine to open
Anyone can help me ?
