HP 4000 Manual Feed Tray

I was hoping that one of you could help me out on an issue I am having. I have been working on a printer issue that I can?t figure out. The printer is an HP Laser Jet 4000. When a user tries to print to the manual feed tray it bypasses it and goes to tray 2. If I enable the manual feed tray on the printer it forces the user to press the ?Go? button on the printer so that their print job prints out of tray2. All I need is for the printer to allow the user to select what tray they would like their print job to go to. I have tried everything I can think of to get this resolved.
