HP DeskJet 5650 print server problems

My co-worker and I have run into an issue involving HP DeskJet 5650s set up on a Windows Server 2003 print server. Any print jobs, except dos prints, work half the time. The other half just sit in the print que and hold up the system. Lishts flash, “no one is home”. If we use a print driver from another hp product, the print jobs work, although garbled (as they aught to be). The problem existed on the previous Windows 2000 server too.
HP’s official comment was that they do not support 5650s networked. Although their specifications state so.
Anyone have any ideas?
