HP Jetdirect and dos printing

Have an hp4si printer connected to hpdirect. The printer, print server, and queue was setup in jetadmin. Using queue mode. On novell network using intranetware. Windows based programs can print to queue. Win98 workstation. Having problem with dos based program printing. I can see the print job in the printer dialog box, it the status is “spooling” the job never prints. I have captured lpt1 using windows and novell capture. on the printer I unchecked “check port status” on port setting. Told it to spool ms-dos programs, print after first page is spooled is checked, data format is emf. What am I missing. Thanks.
