When you are done laughing – help me. I have an hp LaserJet1200 hooked up to my computer which has Windows 98 on it. I am trying to convince the boss that I need a newer computer but it was good enough for the old Secretary who was here forever so he doesn’t understand why it isn’t good for me but that’s not my question – I keep getting error messages that say to check the cable, make sure it’s turned on, etc. Then I get that it performed an illegal operation and has to shut down. Then if I try to print again it says no printers are installed even though I have two connected to it. Then if I reboot – magically it says that it has print jobs and would I like to complete them and the disappearing printers are in their folder where they belong. I replaced the serial port cable between the computer and the printer with a brand new one. I have reinstalled the printer with the disks. HP does not support Windows 98 anymore so I can’t get any help from them. Does anybody have any suggestions?
