HP Laserjet 4000 paper pick up

I have a Laserjet 4000 with 2-500 page trays installed and when I send a job to it, let’s say to tray 3, both trays will pull paper simultaneously which will result in a paperjam…I have tried a cold reset but that’s about it…Removed the duplexer and the fuser…Any thought? Thanks!
