Hp printer (All in One)

Can someone suggest a solution to the following: I have a problem with an HPpsc2355 which when printing off IE only prints a couple of inches & stops. The print spooler can not be stopped & Win XP will not shut down! I have updated everything including BIOS to no avail. The host PC is a Packard Bell imedia 1402, on XP with 512ram, Intel? Celeron? D processor 335 & P-Bell/Gigabyte M/B. HP support only suggest reset of printer. MS KB has no entries that I can find.
