HTML pulling Excel data on intranet

I would like to know if there is a way (Javascript) to pull data from excel (ex. phone listing, with 4 columns, Name, Extension, Pager, Cell) into a html page.

The excel document and html page are on the company’s file server and will never have to be able to go outside the office network.

Hope someone can help to save me from having to save to documents (.xls and .htm) for the company Phone lists.
