Hub connection Problem

Ok i have 2 hubs 1-linksys 10/100 hub and 1- 3com 10/100 hub. I am tring to get at least one of these hubs connected to my router so that the users attached to the hub can get to the internet and e-mail, but the hub does not want to allow data through to the internet and e-mail even though I am connecting all of the wires the same way they are currently connected. Right now i Have a netgear 10mb hub where i want the new one. I get link lights and everything just no connection on workstation end. WHY?
