Hub to hub cable lengths

Ok all you network hardware guru’s.. I have seen documentation that states maximum cable length between 100mps hubs is only 5 meters yet maximum length between 10mps hubs is the 100 meter standard. Just curious if this information is correct. Should be any easy 90 points for someone. A link or two to back up your reply would be helpful.
