I cannot login in as keyboard and touchpad are not recognized

Hi there

I am a student and need my laptop! Basically i am not very technological and so it might need a step by step guide

I have an Acer Aspire 5600 and the battery is poor on there. I have taken it out and has done the trick for now

I was wondering why it froze at the login and i could not do anything
