I have problem with my hard drive. Can any body help me?

I have a new Western Digital raptor (10,000 rpm) hard drive and I’m having problems with loading an OS onto it. I tried loading a legitimate copy of windows xp pro and it says Unknow Disk (there is no disk in this drive) four times. Then if you press any button after that, a blue screen comes up and says that there is a problem with the setupdd.sys file Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area. And the Technical Information: ***STOP: 0x00000050 (0xE5139298,0x00000000,0xF74139A8,0x00000002). Also followed by ***setupdd.sys – Address F4139A8 base at F73Ec000, DateStamp 41107c8f.
