I would like to know how to receive a message that is sent to a non working

Ok I need to get a code that is sent to a non working number or a number that is no longer in service . I have over 10k of pics of my kids growing up and the only way to get back into the Gmail account is with my old number . I can send the code to that number just have no way of getting the code . Any help would be greatly appreciated.
