IBM ThinkPad T41 won’t recognize USB 2.0 Ports (sees them as USB 1.1)

Hello all,

I have been battling this for quite sometime and I’ve run out of options. Here’s the details – As you can see from the subject, I have an IBM ThinkPad T41 laptop that is running XP Pro SP2. I’m 100% sure that the 2 USB ports on the system are 2.0 (there were, at one point running this way). All of a sudden now I keep getting the “This device can perform faster” message everytime I plug any USB device into either of these ports. I’ve checked to make sure the BIOS of the system is up to date I’ve removed and reinstalled the USB controller drivers. Nothing seems to work. Is there anyone who has run into this problem that can help me? Thanks a lot.
