Our original server was running 2000 Server (IIS 5.0) and somehow it was configured (by someone else, now unavailable for questions) so that our clients could view video that was embedded in a web page (ex https://oursite.com/some.htm) OR they could access the video directly using the URL (ex https://oursite.com/video/some.wmv). In either case, they would be able to watch the video as it downloaded.
That server died and I am now configuring its replacement, a Windows 2003 Server x64 box (IIS 6.0). I tried Media Services for a while but currently it is uninstalled. I am able to view videos that are embedded in web pages, but when I try to access the video directly, IE opens Media Player, which gives me “cannot play the file because a network error occurred.”
Obviously this has to be possible, because we had our old server configured this way. But I’m now several days past due on getting this server up and I’m running out of stuff to try.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
MZR
