Implementing WLC for wireless connections

I was tasked not too long ago to figure out how WLC work and try to figure out how to implement it in our business. So far i did figure out that it needs LWAP not just AP for it to work. Which means i need to converte all our AP to LWAP (Which there is alot of them, more than 100). im not sure though i have a solid understanding about how WLC works and what would a basic configuration i need for it to work.
Im going to be using a Switch (3750) connected to the WLC (cisco 4402) which is connected to the LWAP’s.

P.S i know a 4402 can only support 50 LWAPS, price is no issue i can buy 4404’s as needed.
