Important info to track

I have been assigned the task of compiling a technical notebook for our customers’ networks. This notebook, I have been told, should include IP addresses, important non-default settings, and procedures. Other than that I haven?t been given much direction. Is there a standard for such a notebook? What should it include? Is there a software package to help keep track of such items? Thanks for the help.
