Impossible to Renew IP after Wifi connection restore (without reboot)

by coriferi . Updated 16 years, 4 months ago

Thank you for taking the time do read my question.

My Win XP SP3 notebook connects to the wireless network and internet without problems at powerup.

However after standby (or if I close the connection for any reason) it is impossible to restore it without a reboot.
The reconnect process gets stuck at Renew IP address, and then says “limited or absent connectivity…”.

Issuing IPconfig/release IPconfig/renew commands does not help either.

At present connection is up and I have:
– IP address 10.0.0.9
– Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
– Default Gateway 10.0.0.2 (Trust ADSL modem)
– DHCP service is running
– My wireless network is not encrypted (isolated home within private terrain)
– Disabling ZA Security Suite (shutdown) does not seem to help.

I would like to fix things so that I can close the lead of my notebook (to stop fan and other noises and save HD wear and energy) and later restart working without reboot, as I used to do until last week.
