inaccessible boot device error on new hd

Question: After installing a pre-installed operating system (windows 2000 server)hard drive into new configuration (new motherboard etc…) i get a blue screen of death with “inaccessible boot device..etc..” Anyone ever seen this error, and how do iresolve it without having to reinstall OS. Thanks.
