My system worked fine untile I attached two elderly peripherals. Then for some reason it hung-up, and I had to reboot. After rebooting I experienced lengthy load times and some file corruption errors. I thought, no big deal I’ll use the F8 facility to log the details of my boot routine, identify the corrupt files, and replace them with new copies. Foolish me. Now when I boot I get a blue screen that says “Inaccessible device”!
I have an ERD, an Installation CD, and a tape backup. I alsohave Windows 2000 on four floppy disks. All attempts to use these items end in a Blue screen.
I have a bootable diagnostic diskobtained from my drive manufacturer. When I boot from it correctly sees my storage devices, and reports that my drives are mechanically sound. I also have bootable DOS floppy disk. When I boot from it and run FDISK no information is displayed.
I have had blue screens before and the way I over came the problem was to remove everything but the video card. Then reinstall the operating system, and put each PCI card back-in and and rebooted each time until it was all back together. There must be an easier way! What should I do to get my system running again?
