Install a second drop or use a hub?

I’m beginning to run into situations where I have to install a second network device (usually a printer) at a location with one drop. In earlier situations I had a second drop installed (~$100), but lately I’ve installed small 5-port unmanaged switches instead (~$30) and don’t seem to be experiencing any problems. Am I missing something? Should I go back to multiple drops?
