A friend of mine 3000 miles away had to re-install
windows 98se after changing isp’s which didnt go
well. (former isp software uninstalled improper)
AMD K7 2200+ on pc-chips mbo with via chipset
30gb harddisk, 384mb ram, 52x24x52 CDRW, x4 DVD,
1.44 floppy, onboard video/ac97 sound/10\100 lan/
6xUSB1.1(2.0 available if winxp)/ ac97 modem (disabled in bios)
First attempt to reformat c: responded with insufficient memory when /s switch used but worked without. Windows 98se installed fine. Attempt to install via driver disk fails at via communications driver and all attempts to locate and install driver also fail to find .inf file on
source cd.
The 30gb hdisk is partitioned into 3 (c: d: e:) and d: and e: are full of info that can’t be lost.
how do i get the via chipset drivers installed?
thanks rick
