Installing 2nd CD-Rom problem

I have tried to install a 2nd CD-Rom drive into a P II machine with Windows 95, on the 2nd IDE channel. The unit is recognised in the BIOS, and as a drive when in Windows, but Windows thinks that any CD put is is an Audio type. This affected both CDdrives when I tried installing them both onto the 2nd channel.
I have tried removing auto-insert notification, but that has not cured the problem. There are no indications in the Motherboard specs of any jumpers etc which might be to blame.

I would be grateful for any ideas.
